My Herbal First Aid Kit
I begin hiking the Pacific Crest Trail April 18th, and I wanted to share the herbal first aid kit that I have curated to bring along with me! My main goals were to tailor it to my expected first aid needs and to keep it lightweight. I got a lot of my inspiration for this kit from the CommonWealth Holistic Herbalism Herbal First Aid Class. So here it is!
Inside I’ve got:
Basic bandages - bandaids, roll gauze, medical tape, steri strips
Medications - antihistamine, ibuprofen, dramamine
KT tape - in case of worsened knee pain
Ryn’s joint liniment - knee pain, other injuries
Ingredients - Solomon’s Seal tincture, St. John’s Wort oil, alder tincture, yarrow tincture, cayenne tincture, lobelia tincture, and ginger essential oil
Echinacea tincture - sickness, injuries
Chamomile tincture - digestion, sleep, anxiety
Lobelia tincture - anxiety, allergic reaction
Plantain and calendula salve - general wounds, anti-fungal
Lavender essential oil - burns
Oregano essential oil - tick bites
Ginger honey drops - nausea
Honey packets - wound care
Bentonite clay - wounds, internally for digestive distress, face mask
And here it is all packed up in the waterproof bag I’m using:
I’ll be back with more updates from the trail!
Take care,
Danielle
